1993 Honda CBR900RR - the original that started it all

I bought this brand new in the spring of 1992. The bike is mostly stock and near mint, with under 4800 miles on it. The only modification I did initially was the F1 slip-on. In the last 13+ years it's mostly been in storage (covered, in a garage), occasionally started and the oil/filter changed. And I just put a brand new Yuasa battery in it.

The carbs really needed a cleaning from all the storage time, so this spring I cleaned the carbs. I had bought a dynojet kit a couple of years ago and never got around to putting it in, so with the carbs out I installed the jet kit. I also put in a brand new race-spec BMC air filter. It feels like it just got a 10HP boost. I'd love to see what this thing can do on a dyno.

Extras with the bike:

- cloth cover
- original owners manual
- Honda shop manuals
- micro-fiche
- extra K&N oil filter
- brand new set of splitfire spark plugs (I got these during a promotion)

I'll throw in an semi-matching Arai helmet if I get full price.

The only things wrong with it are very minor; but with everything I ever sell I like to point them out so there are absolutely no misunderstandings: a couple of small cracks in the fairing, a couple of scratches, a tiny dent in the gas tank, and one of the seat bolts can't be snugged down (these are so minor you can barely see one of them in the fullsize pix below). Otherwise it's as close to showroom as you're gonna see. It even has the original tires - and amazingly they are not in bad shape at all, though I highly recommend you buy new rubber for it. I'll try to have it inspected before selling it off.

Honestly I don't want to get rid of it. This was my dream bike at the time I bought it, but I just hate keeping it in storage. I know I'm not gonna get back to riding for at least another 8-10 years (when the kids start college). I'd like to see someone get some use out of it, and I can put the money towards other things for now.

I think this is the perfect bike for someone who wants a brand new sportbike, but can't afford one. This is easily less than half of you're gonna pay for a nice 600 these days. Don't let the age fool you, this bike can hold its own.
